Tourism

Poddębice municipality includes numerous natural advantages that make the region considerably more attractive for tourists. One fifth of our municipality is covered in forests – a treat for mushroom pickers, berry lovers and people who crave fresh air recreation.

“Dąbrowa Napoleonów” nature reserve is especially notable both for its scenic beauty and for natural richness. It is a forest reserve near the Poddębice-Uniejów route. It was created to protect a century-old deciduous forest and mixed forest with rich undergrowth, which is home to numerous rare and protected species of animals and plants.

Anglers and water recreation fans will enjoy fishponds in Byczyna. There is also a horse farm and a mini golf course near Poddębice, in Niewiesz.

Agrotourism is also rapidly growing in our municipality. An Agrotourist Association of Poddębice Region was created, which includes 24 agrotourist farms and offers accommodation, regional cuisine and other attractions.

There are also numerous tourist and bicycle trails in our region. A horse trail is also planned. It will open this year. The trails' aim is to increase municipality's attractiveness, promote traditions and cultural heritage and knowledge of the region. A network of tourist trails connects scenic places and includes catering establishments and accommodation.

The municipality includes:

1. Maria Konopnicka hiking trail from Poddębice to Bronów. (blue)

MONUMENTS

ST. CATHERINE CHURCH IN PODDĘBICE

The church is situated downtown, on a small hill. Three-nave church is closed by a polygonal chancel with Renaissance vault with lunettes.
One of the most valuable elements is a richly decorated, gold-plated altar from the turn of 17th and 18th century with sculptures of saints: Adalbert, Stanislaus, Barbara (patron founder) and Catherine (patron saint of the church) and the paintings of the Mother of God and Saint Catherine.
A richly incrusted pulpit with the figures of four Evangelists is also noteworthy.

RENAISSANCE PALACE

Construction of the palace, designed by Jerzy Hoffman, was started in 1610 by Zygmunt Grudziński. A few years later, his son Stefan added a loggia in Kalisz-Lublin style. In 1873, Napoleon Zakrzewski added a crosswise north building, in a style similar to the main construction.

LUTHERAN CHURCH

A masonry protestant church of Konstantynów parish was built in the north part of Poddębice park in 1871. It is a small redbrick building covered with a gable roof, with a polygonal little bell at the top. White brick bell tower, covered with a stylish dome is especially noteworthy for its Renaissance design. The gate and two side gates have rich ornamental grates.

BISHOP ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH in KAŁÓW

The first mention of Kałów church dates back to 1393. Current St. Nicholas church was built in 1786 by Sulimierski brothers, the owners of Kałów.
It is a modest, but beautiful example of wooden Baroque construction. At the crossing of the nave and transept, there is a Baroque tower with a small bell. The interior is divided into three naves by two pairs of wooden columns, supporting a barrel vault. The rood beam includes the sculptures of St. Stephen and Prophet Jeremiah.
