HEPRO Project has been created by the Healthy Cities of the Baltic Sea Region. An application for funding was submitted to the INTERREG III B BSR program in March 2005 at the program’s headquarters in Rostock. The project has been accepted by the European Commission and was co-financed by the EU. It lasted from July 2005 until December 2007.

   The lead partner of the project was the Ostfold County Council in Norway. The program included 32 partners from Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Poland – where Warsaw, Poznań, Olsztyn, Łódź and Poddębice became member cities. The project was also supported by the WHO.

The aim of the project:
create a health profile of local community, based on surveys conducted among local residents, and use it to plan health-related city- and municipality-wide activities.

Project execution:
- signing an agreement concerning joint execution of the project with our Lead Partner,
- agreement between a representative of Ostfold Region in Norway with the head of WHO Healthy Cities program.
- partner meetings in Turek and Alutus,
- selection of the Steering Committee (oversight over organisational and factual correctness of the project),
- selection of Management Team – practical project execution,
- acquainting meeting participants with the project (factual and financial parts),
- preliminary survey preparation as a research instrument,
- discussion of the essence of health strategy for local community,
- preparation of SWOT analysis for every project participant,
- creation of a strategy of communication between partners,
- final acceptance of the survey,
- promotion of project surveys,
- meeting of project partners from Poland, Lithuania and Latvia in Poddębice (2-5 September, 2006),
- conference of project partners from Poland, Latvia and Norway in Poddębice (6 September, 2007),
- project completion (Brussels, December 2007).
